The Phillies have selected Tampa Rays outfield prospect Tyler Goeddel as the No. 1 selection in Thursday's Rule 5 Draft.  Goeddel was the 44th overall selection in the 2011 amateur draft.

The 23-year-old outfielder played the 2015 season at Double-A Montgomery, hitting .279 with 12 home runs, 72 RBI and 28 steals across 533 plate appearances.

To remain with the team, he would have to make the Phillies' Opening Day roster and remain on the team until the September.

 

With their next selection, the Phillies added Daniel Stumf from the Royals Triple-A Roster, he was on the Kansas City 40-man roster. The 24-year-old Stumpf went 5-4 with a 3.57 ERA in 42 games last season for double-A Northwest Arkansas.
