The Philadelphia Phillies have optioned rookie right-hander Tyler Cloyd to Triple-A Lehigh Valley to make room in the rotation for John Lannan's return.

The struggling Phillies made a series of moves before Thursday's game at Minnesota.

Backup infielder Cesar Hernandez, optioned to Lehigh Valley after Wednesday's game, was replaced on the roster by utility man Michael Martinez, who was recalled from the Triple-A club. To fill in on the staff for the absence of Cloyd, left-hander Jake Diekman was recalled from Lehigh Valley.

The team announced Lannan will start Monday's game against Washington. Another move will be made then to accommodate the left-hander's activation from the disabled list. He's been out with a strained quadriceps tendon in his left knee.

Diekman will join the team for Friday's game at Colorado.
