The Eagles added a couple of more pieces to their defense in the draft.

They first added a defensive tackle in Fletcher Cox.  Next, they went out and got California LB Mychal Kendricks with the No. 46 overall pick in the 2012 draft.  Kendricks was the Pac 12 defensive player of the year in 2011.

Then the Eagles selected defensive end Vinny Curry late in the second round and corner back / return-man Brandon Boykin in the fourth.

Boykin, will be in the mix to return kicks for the Eagles. Widely viewed as a second-round talent, Boykin fell to the late fourth after suffering a fractured leg in the Senior Bowl. He was, however, healthy enough to work out for teams earlier this month and the Eagles saw enough in him to take him in the fourth round.

Curry who is from NJ is a lifelong Eagles fan and said “as soon as I saw that 215 area code call my phone I was super excited.” Boykin said the Eagles coaches have already told him he can come in and compete for the slot corner position and also compete for a return job.

Curry was the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year, and totaled 22 tackles for a loss and 11 sacks in 2011. Regarded as a natural pass rusher with a relentless motor, Curry is more of a pure, physical football player than a gifted athlete.
