Phillies GM Ruben Amaro recently indicated that as many as eight teams have kicked the tires on pitcher Cole Hamels and four have made “real” offers.

According to Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe the Red Sox were one of the four teams that made a trade offer for Hamels.

Per Cafardo the package Boston offered was heavy on the major league side, trying to avoid giving up any of their top prospects. The Phillies of course are asking for younger prospects, being in full rebuilding mode.

One of the targets for the Phillies is catcher Blake Swihart, the Red Sox seem unwilling to give him up in a deal.
