When Flyers GM Ron Hextall re-signed Michal Neuvirth, the deal appeared to be a team friendly deal, that would have him being the backup or at the very least splitting time in the net this season.

Hextall has said repeatedly that he doesn't feel comfortable with a Neuvirth/Anthony Stolarz tandem in goal.

Well it appears the Flyers could be getting closer to finding a replacement for Steve Mason in the goalie tandem.

goalie Brian Elliott could sign with the Flyers on a three year deal worth $2.75 million per season.

Last year with the Flames, Elliot got off to a slow start, but finished the season strong. In 49 games he was 26-18-3 with a 2.55 goals against and .910 save percentage.

Elliott, 32, has also played for the Blues, Avalanche, and Senators going 191-117-46 with a 2.42 goals against and .913 save percentage.  He has flashed No. 1 goalie potential, but has never actually be "the guy" for a team during his nine seasons in the NHL.

If there is a deal to be made, it can't happen until Saturday.
