The Philadelphia Phillies announced they have recalled outfielder Nick Williams from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Williams will take the place of Howie Kendrick, who will be placed on the disabled list due to a strained left hamstring.

The 23-year-old Williams was acquired by the Phillies in the trade with Texas that sent Cole Hamels  to the Rangers, and in 78 games this season for the Iron Pigs he's hitting .280 with 15 homers, 44 RBI and five stolen bases this season. While it might only be a temporary move, per MLB.com's Todd Zolecki, it might finally be a reason to check in with the Phillies if you have tuned out most of the season - at least for a few games.
