One of the best stories of the young Sixers season has been free agent addition Kelly Oubre Jr, but he is about to miss a significant amount of time.

The team is going to be without Oubre for the foreseeable future after he was a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle in Center City on Saturday night.

Ourbre suffered broken ribs in the process per Shams Charania of The Athletic.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowsk reported on Saturday night, which was confirmed by the team that Oubre will miss “significant time”, but the injuries are not considered to be season-ending.

Oubre had been placed in the starting lineup after the James Harden trade, which included sending P.J. Tucker to the Clippers, opening a spot in the starting lineup.

So who slides into that role?  Two players who came over in the Harden deal, Nicolas Batum and Robert Covington would be the most obvious candidates to replace Oubre, but they have options.

Losing Oubre is key, in his first eight games with the Sixers, he is averaging 16.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.4 steals, and is connecting on 37.4 percent of his three-point shots this season.
