As was reported yesterday, the Phillies have interest in dealing for Seattle shortstop Jean Segura.  Today we know the potential compensation to make the deal happen.

Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports the Mariners are interested in Phillies shortstop J.P. Crawford as part of the return in a potential trade of Segura.

During his brief Phillies career, Crawford, is hitting just .214 with three homers and 18 RBI in 225 career plate appearances.  He missed most of last season due to injury and appeared in just 49 games.

As noted in the above tweet, the Phillies would still be in on the Manny Machado free agency sweepstakes even if they add Segura, per Jim Salisbury of NBC Sports Philadelphia.

If the Phillies were to add both Segura and Machado, they most likely would move Machado over to play third base.

Segura, 28, is signed through 2022 with a club option for 2023
