Ruben Amaro Jr is working on a deal that would bring Toronto outfielder Jose Bautista, 33, over to Philadelphia in exchange, the Phillies would send Dom Brown and others back to the Blue Jays, that according to a report by FOX 29's Howard Eskin,

The Phillies like that Bautista can also play third base in the event that Cody Asche isn't ready and also that he is a right-handed bat.  The Phillies already have Ben Revere, Ryan Howard, Chase Utley  and Brown in the everyday line-up hitting left-handed.  Shipping Brown out and adding Bautista and Marlon Byrd earlier today would give the Phillies the ability to pursue lefty-hitting catcher Brian McCann if they are interested.

Brown, 27, is under team control through 2017. Bautista is owed $14 million each of the next two seasons and has a $14 million club option for 2016.

One earlier report today suggested that the Phillies were interested in Rangers catcher A.J. Pierzynski - who hits left-handed.
