Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice was arrested and charged Saturday due to a physical dispute.

According to The Baltimore Sun, Rice was at Revel Casino Hotel in Atlantic City, where he and a woman were involved in a 'minor' altercation on the boardwalk.

However, the sports website Deadspin reported on Sunday that the dispute was far from 'minor.'

According to Deadspin sources, a woman spat on the face of Rice which then provoked the Ravens RB to 'uppercut' her and knock her unconscious.

Both parties were arrested, charged and released. A Ravens spoke person released a statement acknowledging the arrests and noted that the couple returned home together.

Atlantic City Police Department, nor Revel Casino have returned calls or commented on the matter.

Rice attended Rutgers University in New Jersey and was a second round pick of the Ravens in 2008.
