If you remember, it wasnt the easiest to convince Chip Kelly to make the jump to the pros.

The Eagles coach originally rejected owner Jeffrey Lurie's overtures and returned to Eugene to remain with his Ducks.

When that happened the Eagles offered the head coaching position to Texas A&M head coach Kevin Sumlin, according to a report in the San Antonio Express-News.

Their interest was reported back then, but it was unclear how serious it was.

It's also been reported the University of Auburn offered their head coaching position to Sumlin.

Ultimately, Kelly decided to accept the Eagles job and the rest is history.

Though it would have been fun to speculate whether Sumlin would have drafted 'Johnny Football.' in 2014.
