The governor Thursday granted a county request to allow people back on the barrier island communities of Brigantine Beach, Margate City and Longport Borough.

Atlantic City and Ventnor remain off-limits at the request of municipal officials, who say public health and safety issues remain. Atlantic County Executive Dennis Levinson says Ventnor City is expereincing a "serious problem with their sewage."

"Their waste system has backed up and they're not positive where the source of the problem is."he says.

In addition to Atlantic City being under a boil water advisory, Levinson notes the signalization in the city and the electric has not been turned on in all places. He notes both Ventnor and Atlantic City's requests to stay under the travel ban came from city officials.

The towns released from the evacuation order will still have 6 p.m.- to-6 a.m. curfews until further notice.

Evacuation orders in other parts of the state remain in effect.
