PHILADELPHIA (973espn.com) — The now troubled and somewhat dysfunctional relationship between the Eagles and Sam Bradford took another turn Tuesday when Eagles executive vice president of football operations Howie Roseman appeared on Mike and Mike in the Morning, which airs daily on 97.3 ESPN.

Roseman again affirmed he has not spoken to Bradford but further clarified to say he has not tried to contact the disgruntled quarterback, who has told the organization through agent Tom Condon that he will not attend any voluntary workouts in protest of the team's drafting of Carson Wentz, the presumed future of the franchise. Incredulously, Roseman also claimed to not know if Bradford had ignored the texts and calls from his head coach, Doug Pederson, as reported.

"I have not spoken to (Sam)," Roseman claimed before pivoting. "I have not reached out to him so I’d probably have to go talk to some people here and ask them (if Sam is ignoring texts and calls). But Sam’s a pro and understands he’s got a great opportunity here to come in, be the starting QB with our group of players around him and hopefully win some games."

It seems as if Roseman may be trying to give Bradford a bit of an out to save face and return to the organization because the Eagles continue to move forward with the assumption Bradford will be the starter in 2016.

When asked if a trade was possible, Roseman was blunt, "No," he said before quickly placing a caveat on what reads as a declarative statement. "We’re gonna do what’s in the best interest of our team. If anything makes us better we’ll look at it, but we’re really comfortable where we are with the QB position."

Roseman also balked at the narrative from the Bradford camp, which claims the Eagles essentially lied to the veteran quarterback about their plan at the position before signing him to a two-year extension earlier this offseason.

“We’d been very clear publicly and privately that we were gonna draft a young QB … it was a priority for us," Roseman said. "We needed to get one in here we were gonna develop. When we signed Sam we told him he was our starting QB. We told him about the trade before the trade happened. But we have to do what is in the best interest of our team in the short-term and the long-term. That’s our job.”
