So another day on the Baseball Hot Stove and another wild rumor surrounding the Phillies.

This rumor comes from WDAE 620 Radio in Tampa via "someone in Philly", where the hosts discussed a trade involving Ryan Howard and a prospect from the Phillies for lefty ace David Price - no, we aren't kidding.

The best part about the discussion, is the Tampa hosts seemed to embrace the idea of making such a deal. Their thoughts were that the Rays designated hitters struggled so much last year hat Howard would have to be an upgrade.  Coupled with the fact that Howard just bought a home in the Tampa area - let's green light this thing!

In the agreement, the Phillies would pick up at least half of the remaining salary on Howard's contract.

As for Price, it is no secret that he could be traded, Price told reporters that he expects to be traded by the Rays this offseason.

"It's not disappointing or anything like that," Price said. "This is a place I love to be. My teammates and everyone in the organization knows that. It's part of baseball and it's something I've seen go on, it's kind of something I somewhat prepared myself for."

The ace left-hander is still two years away from free agency, so it's not imperative that a deal gets done now, but according to ESPN's Buster Olney reports some teams want to know they could sign Price to a long-term extension before they'd agree to trade for him.
