All week on the Sports Bash we said if the Eagles can beat the Seahawks and get some help they would be in good shape to get themselves back in the NFC East race.

We said if the Cowboys lose one game against either Arizona or Tampa and the Eagles take care of the Boys again, they could control their own destiny.   If the Giants lose to the Packers and the Eagles take care of their business, they would be just game behind them with the tie-breakers in your favor.

While, the Eagles didn't take care of business, they are sadly - still alive.

While it's the longest of long shots and I give full disclosure  that I don't think it will happen.  The Eagles can control their on destiny if they win out.

Here is how:

Dallas must lose three of their last four, the best way would be to split with the Giants and lose to the Eagles and Bucs, leaving them at 8-8 - the Eagles would win the tie-breaker.  However, you already got your gift, by the Cardinals (who at 5-7 are still ahead of the Eagles in the Wild Card race) beating the Cowboys.

As for the Giants, who have lost four in a row, but looked inspired in a tough loss to the Packers on Sunday, must split their final four games, two with Dallas, Washington and the Jets to finish at 8-8.

So if Dallas loses three of four, the Giants split their remaining four games and the Eagles win out, they would win the NFC East and make the playoffs as the four seed in the NFC playoff, getting a home playoff game.

Also making it more frustrating was that all the teams in the NFC Wildcard race lost and as we predicted are all in free-falls.

Chicago scored three points against a Tyler Palko led Kansas City team and has lost their quarterback Jay Cutler and now their running back Matt Forte.  The Bears have lost two in a row after winning five straight.  Detroit is now 7-5 after falling for the second time in a row and fifth time in their last seven tries.  Atlanta could have pulled away from the pack, with a win at Houston, who was starting rookie TJ Yates, and they too failed.

All three of these teams are 7-5 and seem to have serious issues.

Could all the things that they need happen go their way, it sure looks like it.  How many people believe in the Cowboys, Giants, Bears and Lions right now - not to many.

The more important question is how many people believe in the Eagles right now - even less.
