Scott Hartnell Out 4-8 Weeks

Things are getting worse for the Flyers.

General Manager Paul Holmgren announced Thursday evening that Scott Hartnell will be out 4-8 weeks with a left foot injury.

The Flyers forward missed practice Wednesday morning after getting hit with a shot to the foot in the third period of Tuesday night's loss to the Devils.

Holmgren told reporters on Thursday that losing Hartnell is "a tough pill to swallow."

Thursday's game against the Rangers will be just the fourth game Hartnell misses as a Flyer, his first since 2010.

The status of Danny Briere remains unknown for the two games in Florida this weekend.
