Heading into Monday night's game, Phillies have lost 17 of their last 21 games and for the month of May the pitching staff has compiled a 5.40 ERA while the bullpen has only been able to finish one save opportunity.  For the season, the Phillies bullpen has Nine Blown Saves in 15 Save Opportunities; that is tied for the third most Blown Saves in Baseball.  Is the solution to start putting some starting pitchers into the bullpen?

CSN Philly Pre/Post Game Phillies Analyst Ricky Bottalico joined The Sports Bash on Tuesday and was asked about Nick Pivetta (0-2 in Four Starts with 5.12 ERA in 19.1 Innings with 21 Strikeouts) as a candidate to be moved into the bullpen:

"I think Pivetta is more of a starter, I really do, I think he's going to be okay.  He just got his feet wet, he's going to be able to make some starts at the big league level and I think he is the injury guy right now.  If one of the starting rotation guys gets injured, he's going to be the one coming up to the big leagues.  It's a drastic move to be shoving everybody into the bullpen right now, it is what it is, we're going to have to live with it.  Hopefully the starters start picking up some of the slack and start going deeper into the games."
