The rest of Joel Embiid’s rookie season, if not over, is certainly in doubt.

Embiid, chosen third overall in the 2014 NBA Draft, has been dealing with an bruised knee injury. He last played on Jan. 27 against the Rockets on national TV, and has missed the last 13 games and 16 of 17 since his awkward fall in a game back on Jan. 20 against the Portland Trial Blazers, when his knee hyperextended.

“The doctors felt it would be prudent if we wait a couple more games,” Sixers GM Bryan Colangelo said during a press conference on Friday.

The team announced Embiid was expected to miss the Sixers' next four games, following the recommendation of the team's doctors.

The 22-year-old has appeared in 31 games for the Sixers, averaging 20.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 2.5 blocks, while playing under a minute restriction of 24-minutes virtually the entire season.
