Sixers center Joel Embiid suffered a meniscus injury to his left knee and will be out at least through the weekend while treatment plan is finalized, according to team officials.

Embiid is having a special season, averaging 35.3 points per game, 9.4 rebounds, and 4.3 assists this season.

The extent of the injury has not been announced, but generally, with a Grade 1 or 2 tear surgery may not be needed. If the injury is a grade 3, they usually require surgery.

Embiid, who has missed time with a knee issue recently and has missed 12 out of the teams 46 games this season, re-aggravated his left knee injury in Golden State when Jonathan Kuminga fell on it in the fourth quarter.

Paul Reed and Mo Bamba should get a bulk of Embiid's minutes while he is out.
