Sixers center Joel Embiid went to the locker room during Wednesday's game with the Knicks after colliding with teammate Markelle Fultz in the second quarter during the Sixers eighth straight win, a 118-101 win over New York.

"I was told it was a facial contusion," is all Sixers head coach Brett Brown could offer following the game.

He didn't have any concussion symptoms, and X-rays were negative for a fracture to his face. After the game, the team said he was taken to a hospital for additional testing.

With both Embiid and Amir Johnson out of the game, Richaun Holmes scored 15 points with seven rebounds, one assist and no turnovers in 22 minutes. Dario Saric added 26 points with 14 rebounds, five assists, two steals and two 3-pointers in 36 minutes.

An update on Embidd should be coming by Friday's game against the Hawks.
