The Philadelphia Sixers announced today they have exercised the contract option on forward Robert Covington for the 2017-18 season.

Philadelphia had until June 24th to pick up the option and he can become a free agent at the end of this season.

During his Sixers career, the 26-year-old Covington averages 13 points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals per game while shooting 35 percent from three-point range and 81 percent from the free-throw line.

He is quickly moving up the Sixers three-point shooting list, his 474 threes are already the fifth-most in franchise history behind Allen Iverson, Kyle Korver, Andre Iguodala and Hersey Hawkins.
