The 76ers have requested permission to interview Spurs assistant Brett Brown for their head coaching vacancy.

GM Sam Hinkie reportedly wants to hire a young coach and Brown, 52 presumably fits the bill.  Brown has been a member of the Spurs’ bench since 2006-07, after spending his first five seasons as a player development coach.

More recently, Brown was coach of the Australian national team, which made the quarterfinals at the 2012 Olympics.

With Brian Shaw heading to Denver, Brown is still on the market, he had met with Nuggets brass and was  a 'strong contender' for the Nuggets job, but now he's also a real candidate for the Sixers.
