The Mainland Mustangs and Buena Chiefs are still standing.

The two teams both captured state championships one season ago, becoming the first two Cape-Atlantic League teams to do so, on the same day. Now they will have a chance to do it again.

Second seeded Mainland used senior Dean Deveney's first career home run to secure its second South Jersey Group III title by defeating Delsea 6-3 on Friday.

Meanwhile, sixth-seeded Buena got 14 strikeouts from Denny Brady to hold off top-seeded Haddonfield 2-1, capturing the Group II title.

Deveney missed seven weeks with a fractured kneecap and wasn't playing much until recently - on Friday he stepped up to help his Mustangs advance.  The Mustangs will take on Central Jersey champion Northern Burlington at Rutgers University at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Brady also went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles to help the Chiefs advance to face the Central Jersey champion Governor Livingston of Union County at either Rider University or Rutgers next week.
