The South Jersey Sports Report Weekday Edition featured an array of subjects that took us to Europe and back again.
Tom Gibbons, a 2008 graduate of Middle Township High School, viewed cycling as a hobby until he began racing competitively as a junior at the University of Miami. His journey in the sport has led him to amateur racing in Belgium.
Host Tyler Donohue discussed that journey with Gibbons after midnight in Belgium. He spoke about his aspirations to pursue a professional career and stressed the important of an upcoming series of races in the cycling-crazy nation.
We then checked in with Cape May native Chad DeSatnick, who suffered a severe spinal cord injury in 2001. A seven-hour surgery and intensive rehab helped him overcome the odds and return to an active lifestyle.
DeSatnick, a 1995 Lower Cape May Regional grad, is now actively involved with the Life Rolls On Foundation, a subsidiary of Chris and Dana Reeves Foundation. He will take part in "They Will Surf Again", an event set to take place on June 15 in Wildwood Crest that gives spinal cord injury victims the opportunity to ride waves with a surfing partner.
We rounded out our guest list with the state's newest member of the 100-goal club. Mainland Regional lacrosse standout Anna Gordon joined Tyler to discuss her milestone accomplishment and an upcoming college career at La Salle University.

Gordon is among candidates for the latest 97.3 ESPN High School Athlete of the Week. Be sure to vote and tune in to hear Tyler announce the winner every Saturday morning at 10 a.m.

The South Jersey Sports Report with Tyler Donohue airs Thursdays, 6-7 p.m. and Saturdays, 9 a.m.-noon. Follow Tyler on Twitter @TDsTake.
