St. Augustine sophomore Jose Tabora has been one of the pleasant surprises of the 2013 football season. He's led the Hermits to a 6-0 start, while throwing more touchdowns than any other Cape-Atlantic League quarterback.

Tabora took top honors as the latest winner of the 97.3 ESPN FM High School Athlete of the Week. He received 73 percent of the total vote to take top honors.

The proficient passer completed 14 passes for 225 yards and two touchdowns in a 35-12 win over National Conference foe Bridgeton.

Ocean City running back Frank Wooley followed with 23 percent of the vote. David Hood (Absegami football), Hannah Richman (Egg Harbor Township soccer) and Tom Flacco (Eastern football) rounded out the vote.

Be sure to look for a new list of Athlete of the Week candidates every Thursday. Vote early and often  through Saturday mornings. Tyler Donohue will announce the winner Saturdays at 11 a.m. on The South Jersey Sports Report (9-noon).
