VOORHEES — There's a reason why the Flyers thought it was a big deal they were able to land Ray Emery a second time when they signed him to a one-year contract this past offseason.

Now a veteran at 31 years of age, Emery has been a cool customer for the Flyers and performed well in pressure situations.

How about being told a day before Game 1 of the playoffs that he's now the starter?

Emery's a veteran at that, too. Now that Steve Mason has been ruled out for Game 1 against the New York Rangers Thursday, this is Emery's third time in that scenario.
