For years, a key member of the core of the team would represent the Flyers at the All-Star Game -- usually Claude Giroux and occasionally Jake Voracek or Wayne Simmonds. At 22, Konecny enters the national spotlight with his first All-Star appearance, perhaps only scratching the surface of his potential.

After missing out on several chances to end the game in overtime, the Flyers came away victorious in the shootout, taking a 5-4 decision in Ottawa on Saturday night.

The Flyers came away with the 4-3 win over the Senators on Saturday afternoon, but perhaps something bigger than just two points. It was just another example of a team that continues to show a closeness and ability to overcome adversity that wasn't there in the past.

A chippy and physical game ended in victory for the Flyers, as Scott Laughton scored just 11 seconds after the Senators tied the game at three to lift the Flyers to a 4-3 win over Ottawa on Saturday afternoon at Wells Fargo Center.
