The Flyers finished off the offseason checklist, signing the final remaining restricted free agent on the list. According to a report from Renaud Lavoie, the Flyers have signed defenseman Robert Hagg to a two-year, $2.3 million deal.

It’s a new chapter for James van Riemsdyk, so just because he’s back in the Orange and Black, it’s not going to be exactly the same as it was all those years ago when the former second overall pick made his debut. Most notably, the new chapter brings on a new number.

The Flyers have signed Christian Folin to a one-year deal, Hextall announced on Thursday morning. Terms of the deal have not been released.

With no short-term options available in the free agent market or through a trade at this time, the Flyers focus shifts to internal options for filling out both the bottom-six forward group and defensive pairings.

The Flyers had a need for a scoring winger and got one in James van Riemsdyk. "We felt with the fit, we needed size, we needed goal scoring, we needed a left winger," GM Ron Hextall said. "This one just fit all around for us and I think James felt the same way."

GM Ron Hextall has talked about wanting to add a veteran forward and veteran defenseman to the lineup. The Flyers certainly have room in their bottom-six group of forwards and definitely can improve on the blue line. Here are few targets in free agency among forwards and defensemen.

It’s worth noting that in drafting five Americans -- and three Swedes as well for that matter -- that the Flyers don’t have to jump to sign anybody from this year's draft class.

Ron Hextall is looking for ways to improve the Flyers in the present, so while selecting prospects has been his comfort zone, he was looking for deals. But this wasn't a typical draft weekend, and deals weren't there to be had.
