South Jersey Fishing Report

Sea bass and ling and are providing steady fishing, with a bonus in the form of cod and winter flounder. Fluke fishing is solid in the back bays, although the bigger fish appear to be moving out front. Bluefish are more on than off. Crabbing is on the upswing.

Sea bass fishing is improving by the day, and the fluke season is off to a rip snorting start.

Is the minnow shortage reaching the crisis stage? Not just yet.. for now. Tackle shops from southern Ocean down through Cape May counties are having a very difficult time procuring killies, and the "minnie guys" are putting in countless hours trying to trap enough to even come close to meeting demand.

The humps and structure throughout the Atlantic City Reef continue yielding flounder between three and seven pounds on the three to six ounce Glow and School Bus SPRO bucktail tipped with a chartreuse or Nuclear Chicken Gulp! Grub. Inside, there is good to excellent weakfish action during the last of the incoming and the first of the outgoing in Main Marsh, Meadow Cut and Black Point...
