The Flyers nearly pulled off another improbable third-period rally. It's entertaining for sure, but it usually means that the two periods leading up to the rally weren't very good. The Flyers did not have a good road trip by any stretch, and they brought the poor play home with them in another loss to the Hurricanes.

Chuck Fletcher should have seen enough. Changes to the roster don’t happen all at once or overnight, but instead of looking for ways to save this season, the Flyers should turn focus on selling where they can and making preparations for next season and beyond.

If the Flyers did everything they could to eliminate chances in front of Carter Hart in the first two games of his career, they didn't do him any favors in his third game. Hart was left in difficult position, needing to recover from the shortcomings the Flyers had early in the season, in a 4-3 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets.

A clean slate for the Orange and Black rings in a new era for the team, one where they can hopefully move on from the identity of inconsistency. It won't happen overnight, but the many changes -- and the magnitude of them -- ushers in a new era for the team as they begin the road ahead under GM Chuck Fletcher and interim head coach Scott Gordon.

If the five-game road trip was going to be an evaluation period for new GM Chuck Fletcher, he should have all the answers he needs. It's time for changes to happen and they could be coming soon.

The game turned in the second period as the Flyers applied more pressure and got the game tied. In the third, four more goals contributed to a big day on the scoresheet for the Orange and Black in a 6-2 win in Buffalo.

The reaction to the Flyers dismissal of Ron Hextall as GM was similar around the locker room. This was a shocking change.

In the midst of a stretch of five losses in six games, there are too many questions and flaws with this team. It’s not a question anymore. A change is needed.

Allowing three power-play goals, six goals to even the most potent offense in the Tampa Bay Lightning and making enough fundamental mistakes to create a deficit in the first place don't look good. But the rally showed some character. It may not be a win but the Flyers need to channel this effort late in the game into better results from here.

It's a game where the scoreboard doesn't tell the whole story. The Flyers 3-0 loss to the New Jersey Devils on Thursday night was much closer than the final score. That said, it was also a game that could be summed up in three words: That's. So. Flyers.
