According to Rob Biertempfel of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review the Pirates have talked to the Phillies about outfielders Ben Revere and Jeff Francoeur. Meanwhile, the Mariners continue to consider Revere as the deadline approaches, Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe hears from a major league source.

The 27-year-old is hitting .294 and has 21 stolen bases and he could fill in as a leadoff hitter for Pittsburgh while Josh Harrison is sidelined.

Francoeur would be a nice veteran bench piece for Pittsburgh, the 31-year-old has hit .246 with six homers in 194 plate appearances this year for the Phillies.  The Phillies have also talked about his leadership ability and help with the younger players.
