In this edition of the Sports Page, we find out why February is an important month for the Flyers and Sixers.  Plus, a former Phillies pitcher could find a new home and the Eagles might have a stare down with one of their stars.

Flyers

According to the Philadelphia Daily News, Flyers' head coach Peter Laviolette will give Ilya Bryzgalov a month or so to show he is the netminder to carry the team in the postseason.  So far this season, he has an 18-10-4 record, a 2.99 goals-against average, and a .895 save percentage.  Sergei Bobrovsky is 11-4-1 with a 2.42 goals-against average and a .919 save percentage.

Sixers

The Sixers begin a stretch of games against seven straight team with winning records tonight verse the Orlando Magic at the Wells Fargo Center.  After beating the lowly Pistons on Saturday, the Sixers will now play five of their next six games at home.  Their four game lead over the Celtics is the largest division lead in the NBA.  Six of the 7 teams they face made the playoffs last season and the Lakers are the only team in the 7-game stretch that wouldn't be in the playoffs if the season ended today.

Phillies

Over the weekend it was being reported that former Phillies pitcher Roy Oswalt was going to become a member of the Cardinals.  However, Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com reports that the Cardinals don't have a deal in place for Roy Oswalt yet but "are trying to clear money to make it work."  That being said, the Rangers are still planning to meet with Roy Oswalt on today.  Apparently, Oswalt recently turned down a one-year, $10 million contract from the Tigers.

Oswalt posted a quality 3.69 ERA and 93/33 K/BB ratio across 139 innings in 2011.

Eagles

League sources tell the Philadelphia Daily News impending free agent DeSean Jackson's "opinion of his worth" is "night-and-day different" from the Eagles'.  It appears this could be an interesting off-season stare-down between the Eagles and Jackson.  Who will blink first?
