The Phillies at the Trade Deadline (Updated)

With the Phillies season pretty much over, the trade deadline might just be the most exciting thing left for baseball fans in the Delaware Valley.  Here are the latest rumors to keep an eye on as the Tuesday, 4pm deadline approaches:

Dom Brown

Domonic Brown has been scratched from Tuesday’s lineup with Triple-A Lehigh Valley. (Jul 31 – 11:12 AM)

Cliff Lee

According to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports, one rival executive said early Tuesday that he had “received indications” that the Phillies and Diamondbacks had discussed a deal involving Cliff Lee and Justin Upton. (Jul 31 – 8:40 AM)

ESPN’s Jayson Stark said that a deal between the Phillies and Rangers involving Cliff Lee is “not going to happen.” (Jul 30 – 5:15 PM)

J.R. Sullivan of MLB.com was told by an industry source that the chances of Lee returning to the Rangers are “less than one percent.” (Jul 30 – 4:35 PM)

CBS Sports’ Jon Heyman heard from a source Monday that the Rangers are a “long shot” for Cliff Lee. (Jul 30 – 2:04 PM)

Buster Olney of ESPN reports that Phillies left-hander Cliff Lee is “in play in trade talks.” (Jul 30 – 12:30 PM)

Hunter Pence

According to Jim Salisbury of CSN Philadelphia, Hunter Pence may still get traded to the Giants before the 4 PM trade deadline. (Jul 31 – 11:30 AM)

Jim Bowden of ESPN.com and MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM reports that the Giants continue to discuss a possible Hunter Pence deal with the Phillies. (Jul 31 – 12:11 AM)

Jon Heyman of CBS Sports has confirmed that the Giants are going after Phillies outfielder Hunter Pence. (Jul 30 – 1:11 PM)

Joe Blanton

Brittany Ghiroli of MLB.com writes that a deal between the Orioles and Phillies involving Joe Blanton is “looking more and more like it wont happen.” (Jul 31 – 11:33 AM)

Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun reports that the Phillies want the Orioles to pay all of Joe Blanton’s remaining contract to facilitate a deal between the clubs. (Jul 30 – 9:18 PM)

CBS Sports’ Danny Knobler reports that the Orioles have talked to the Phillies about Joe Blanton. (Jul 30 – 11:23 AM)

Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports that Joe Blanton’s medical records have been faxed to the Orioles’ orthopedist.  (Jul 30 – 5:36 PM)

 

Juan Pierre

According to USA Today’s Bob Nightengale, the Reds’ coaching staff “loves” outfielder Juan Pierre. (Jul 30 – 11:14 AM)

Shane Victorino

ESPN’s Jayson Stark reports that the Phillies are “close” to trading outfielder Shane Victorino to the Dodgers for right-hander Josh Lindblom and a second player. (Jul 31 – 9:54 AM)

Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports that the Dodgers are in “serious talks” with the Phillies about a possible deal for Shane Victorino. (Jul 31 - 9:28 AM)

Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports that the Reds and Phillies have “ceased talks” regarding Shane Victorino and Juan Pierre. (Jul 31 – 9:14 AM)

Danny Knobler of CBSSports.com reports that Shane Victorino is the Reds’ “top target” in their search for a leadoff hitter, and their interest in Juan Pierre “appears to have been exaggerated.” (Jul 30 – 7:00 PM)

Phillies Trade options

According to FOX Sports’ Jon Paul Morosi, the Phillies have interest in the Padres’ Chase Headley. (Jul 30 – 12:43 PM)
