Local QB Chooses Georgia Tech [PODCAST]

He’s considered one of the best high school football players in South Jersey, and now he’s made his college choice known.

Damon Mitchell, star quarterback at Cedar Creek High School, committed to Georgia Tech last weekend. He will be the feature weapon in Tech’s dangerous triple-option offensive attack, competing for an ACC title in nationally-televised games.

The stellar athlete, known simply as “Duwop”, joined us on the South Jersey Sports Report to talk about one of the biggest decisions of his life,  plus which three NFL players the incoming senior quarterback compares himself to.

Wildwood Crest native Maddie Peterson is on the PacSun USA Surf Team after placing 4th at the National Championships in San Clemente. She’s the first ever Team USA representative from New Jersey. Now, she’s on the other side of the world shredding waves and continuing her mission work. Maddie spoke to us live from Hong Kong about her accomplishments, what’s next in her international odyssey, and why she thinks the South Jersey surf stacks up against some of the world’s best waves.

Tim McCline is a local who’s doing his part to support veterans. He’ll explain how his family inspires the continued charity work for vets, plus details on a special softball benefit.

Imagine riding 112 miles on your bike, then hitting the surf for a 2.4-mile swim, and then taking on a 26.2-mile run. Not quite your typical trip to Hawaii, but Ventnor’s Colleen Campbell couldn’t imagine it any other way. She spoke with the South Jersey Sports Report about her biggest supporters, her 12-year Ironman championship wait, and how she balances family time with an extensive training regiment.

And the Atlantic Shore Baseball team is continuing its World Series run, and is set to host the Mid-Atlantic Regionals at a revitalized Surf Stadium. Three stand-out players joined us inside the Admiral Nissan Studios to discuss their all-star journey, and what they’ll be expecting when they take the field in one of the area’s biggest ballparks.
