The Philadelphia Phillies played undisciplined, uninspired baseball against the National League East-leading Atlanta Braves on Thursday Afternoon.  They wasted a great pitching performance by Aaron Nola, who has been inconsistent this season; In 16 starts this year, Nola has 8 Quality Starts (when a pitcher goes at least 6 innings and allows 3 or fewer runs).   The loss to the Braves dropped the Phillies to three games out of the final NL Wild Card Spot and to make the optics worse, the Phillies sit 10 games behind Atlanta in the NL East.  The worst part of the loss was the way they lost; their top five players in the batting order went 0-18 with 8 strikeouts!  On a day the Kids 14 years old and under could run the bases after the game, the loss in extra innings left the crowd making the best of the afternoon on a cloudy day.

Now the New York Mets come to town for a weekend series and the Phillies have to face two of their best pitches: Kodai Senga on Friday Night and Max Scherzer on Sunday afternoon.  Last year the Mets dominated the Phillies by winning 14 of the 19 games played.  Hopefully the Phillies can turn it around by playing with more passion and discipline against their division rival Mets.

The NBA held its annual entry Draft on Thursday night and the Sixers picked....Oh yeah, they didn’t have a pick in the two rounds of this year's draft.  76ers fans are hoping President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey makes some moves this offseason in place of the team's lack of draft picks.  We will discuss all the hot topics in The Locker Room with Billy Schweim this weekend.

On Saturday’s show, Josh Hennig will wear two hats as Producer and Co-host with me as we talk all things Philly sports.  The Phillies and Sixers will dominate the conversation in the first hour.  In Hour Two is The Beach Patrol Report, brought to you by McCann Realtors of Sea Isle City and the Ocean City Beach Patrol Lifeguard Alumni Association.  Former Lieutenant of the Ocean City Beach Patrol John McShane will join us for an extended segment covering the latest on this weekend's Beach Patrol Report.  This week we will talk with the New Chief of the Ocean City Beach Patrol Eric Becker and the Lieutenant of the Avalon Beach Patrol Erich Wolf.

On Sunday’s show, The Locker Room Youth Movement is back in studio with Producer Danny Ryan and "The Intern” Andrew Leeds joining me in the studio.  We will review the week in Philly Sports.  Every Sunday we go “On the Mound” with former Phillies Pitcher Tommy Greene brought to you by the John R. Elliott Hero Campaign for designated drivers.  Tommy reviews the Phillies rollercoaster week and previews the Sunday game against Max Scherzer and the Mets.

All that and more this weekend in The Locker Room with Billy Schweim, heard every Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to Noon on 97.3 ESPN Radio.
