Phillies finally added a free agent piece
After a quiet offseason, the Phillies finally added a piece to their puzzle on Friday, adding super utility man Whit Merrifield.
But even that move doesn't have Vegas thinking bigger, while the Phillies opening line to win the World Series was set at +1500 on Fan Duel, ESPN Bet list the Phillies current World Series odds at +1400.
The Phillies have the seventh shortest odds to win the World Series with the Dodgers (+400), Braves (+600), Astros (+800), Yankees (+900), Orioles and Rangers (+1200) ahead of Philadelphia.
The Phillies represented the National League in 2022, losing to the Houston Astros in six games. Last year, they advanced to the National League Championship Series, falling in seven games to the Arizona Diamondbacks, who are +3000 to win the World Series this season and +1600 to get back to the series.
They are +700 to represent the National League in the Fall Classic.
The Phillies chances of winning the NL East are +320. The Braves are the favorites at -240 to win the East for the seventh consecutive season.
The last time the Phillies won the East was 2011.
