Phillies pitcher Vincent Velasquez will make a minor league rehab start Wednesday with Double-A Reading.
“He’s actually doing great – has thrown several bullpens, throwing all his pitches at 100% intensity, and he’s getting to the point where he’s about ready to go out on a rehab assignment,” Phillies GM Matt Klentak said on Breakfast on Broad Monday morning.
It's good news for the pitcher and the Phillies, who got a scare when he left a game back on June 8 with a right biceps strain.
He believes that he will only require one rehab start.
The 24-year-old is 5-2 with a 3.65 ERA in 61 2/3 innings over 12 starts this season.
