In a bit of a landslide, Wildwood's Devon Bradshaw took home last week's 97.3 ESPN High School Athlete of the Week honors.

This week, we have a fresh batch of local student-athletes who have proven themselves worthy on their respective fields.

Jake Powell, Baseball, Cherokee - He launched a pair of home runs to help the Chiefs blast Egg Harbor Township 13-5 in South Jersey Group IV opening-round action. Powell scored three total runs.

 

Maddie Taggart, Softball, Atlantic City - She tossed a five-hitter and struck out seven batters in a 3-2 win over Egg Harbor Township as the 16th-seeded Vikings claimed a second straight South Jersey Group IV playoff upset. AC now holds a nine-game win streak.

 

Brandon Johnson, Baseball, Middle Township - He delivered three hits and scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning, pushing the Panthers past rival Lower Cape May in the South Jersey Group II playoff opener.

 

Kimmie Hellyer, Baseball, Hammonton - She knocked in the game-winning run against Pinelands Regional, pushing the Blue Devils into the South Jersey Group III semifinals. Hellyer was also the winning pitcher.

 

Dylan Tolbert, Baseball, St. AugustineThe senior helped St. Augustine secure its first Diamond Classic title. Tolbert drove in the game-winning run in an extra-inning semifinal win over Washington Township. The Hermits won in the final hours later.
