97.3 ESPN's High School Athlete of the Week took a Thanksgiving break, but now we're back and ready to go. Congrats to St. Joseph's Emily DeMarco for picking up the honor two weeks ago.

Meanwhile, we have a new batch of local student-athletes who have proven themselves on the field this week. You can vote for your pick, and hear the winner announced on the South Jersey Sports Report with Tyler Donohue Saturday morning at 9:00.


Calvin Cass, Football, St. Augustine - His final game as a Hermit is sure to live on in school lore. Cass carried the ball 53 times against Cedar Creek, accumulating 253 yards and three touchdowns. A 41-40 overtime victory gave St. Augustine the CAL National Conference title.

Abbey Carey, Soccer, Mainland – The Mustangs standout led the CAL American Conference squad to a 6-2 victory in the Les Heggan All-Star classic. Carey scored twice before intermission.

Dayshawn Reynolds, Football, Atlantic City – The senior wide receiver was instrumental in Atlantic City’s fifth consecutive win. Reynolds reeled in eight receptions, including two first-half touchdown catches at Holy Spirit, helping the Vikings secure a 13-7 victory.

John Gery, Soccer, Wildwood Catholic – His goal was the difference in the CAL Les Heggan All-Star classic. With the game approaching overtime, Gery scored to put the National Conference team in front 1-0.

Jim Cooper, Football, Mainland – The senior kicker made history in his final high school game. The University of Temple commit converted three second-half field goals to become New Jersey’s all-time leader in field goals made (31).
