Last Week's 97.3 ESPN High School Athlete of the week vote ended in a tie. So, congrats to Atlantic City's Dayshawn Reynolds and Mainland's Jim Cooper.

Meanwhile, we have a new batch of local student-athletes who have proven themselves on the field this week. You can vote for your pick, and hear the winner announced on the South Jersey Sports Report with Tyler Donohue Saturday morning at 9:00.


Gary Melton, Football, Cedar Creek - The senior running back scored four touchdowns against Willingboro in the South Jersey Group II semifinals. He caught two and rushed for a pair of scores to propel the Pirates.

 

Pat Flynn, Swimming, St. Augustine - After a dominant junior season, Flynn opened his senior season in style with two individual wins in an opening win over Cape-Atlantic League American Conference rival Mainland Regional. He also contributed to multiple relay victories.

 

Cody Sampson, Football, St. Joe - Helped the Wildcats reach another Non-Public state title game with three touchdowns in semifinal victory. Sampson scored a pair of rushing touchdowns and also recovered a fumble in the end zone on defense.

 

Amber Glenn, Swimming, Atlantic City - She broke teammate Colleen Callahan's school record in the 400-meter freestyle swim (4:29.89) in a season-opening victory over Holy Spirit. She was also a member of the Vikings 200 medley relay team.

 

A.J. Dawson, Football, Holy Spirit - He scored two touchdowns in the first quarter of the Spartans semifinal matchup against Pingry. Dawson rushed for a touchdown and returned an interception for a touchdown to set the stage for a third straight Holy Spirit trip to the state finals.
