Congrats to Atlantic City's Dennis White for taking home last week's 97.3 ESPN High School Athlete of the Week honors.

We have new batch of local student-athletes who have proven themselves on the field this week. You can vote for your pick, and hear the winner announced on the South Jersey Sports Report with Tyler Donohue Saturday morning beginning at 9:00.

Mike Gesicki, Basketball, Southern Regional - The junior standout attracted attention from college programs for his achievements on the football field this fall, but he is also gaining quite a reputation in basketball. Gesicki surpassed 1,000 career points Monday when he scored 24 in a victory over Brick Memorial.

 

Ryan Conlin, Ice Hockey, St. Augustine Prep - The Hermits unveiled a relentless offensive attack throughout a 5-3 win over Holy Ghost Prep in Bristol, Pa. Conlin tallied a pair of goals in the contest, spearheading St. Augustine's scoring efforts.

 

Melanie Wilezol, Swimming, Ocean City - Her dynamic performance during a meet against Our Lady of Mercy Academy helped Ocean City clinch its third consecutive Cape-Atlantic League National Conference championship. Wilezol earned individual victories in the 100-meter backstroke and butterfly events. while also taking part in a pair of relay wins.

 

Chase Toliver, Track & Field, Oakcrest  -  The Falcons speedster starred at the four-team Varsity Invitational at the Atlantic City Armory. Toliver took first-place honors in both 55-meter dash and 55-meter hurdles competition.

 

Josh Borrelli, Basketball, Shawnee - The senior added to the expanding list of local hoops players that have eclipsed the 1,000-point mark in their careers. Borrelli entered this week's game against Cherry Hill West two points shy of the milestone. He scored 15 points in a Shawnee win and was honored during the contest.
