Congratulations to St. Augustine's Matt McCourt for taking home last week's 97.3 ESPN High School Athlete of the Week honors.

Turning to this week, we have a fresh batch of local student-athletes who have proven themselves worthy on their respective fields.

Mike Di Ianni, Baseball, Holy Spirit - The Spartans pitcher was provided with a 2-0 in the first inning against Mainland and it was more than enough offensive support. He tossed a complete-game no-hitter, striking out seven batters in the process.

 

Monny Strickland, Baseball, Egg Harbor Township - The senior spearheaded an impressive performance for the Eagles against Atlantic City at Sandcastle Stadium. He collected three hits, including a double, and four RBIs in a 10-6 victory.

 

Cheyenne Meyer, Softball, Cedar CreekThe junior reached a milestone during a 6-0 win over Cape May Tech. Meyer connected on four extra-base hits to become the first Cedar Creek player with 100 career base knocks. She also earned a victory on the mound, striking out 16 batters.

 

Matt Ardente, Baseball, Absegami - He dominated throughout an eight-inning effort against Egg Harbor Township. Ardente struck out 10 batters en route to a pressure-packed 1-0 win.

 

Dominique Barber, Lacrosse, Oakcrest - She scored four goals, including a game-winner in overtime against Ocean City. Barber's efforts helped push the Falcons to their first program victory over the Red Raiders.
