A round of applause for Egg Harbor Township's standout lacrosse star Connor Houghton, who took home last week's 97.3 ESPN High School Athlete of the Week honors.

Tess Solazzo, Lacrosse, Ocean CityThe Red Raiders catalyst became the fourth woman in South Jersey history to score 300 career goals and tallied her 100th goal of the 2013 season. The Ohio State commit has Ocean City thinking championship.

 

Joe Gatto, Baseball, St. Augustine - The junior ace and University of North Carolina commit dominate Mainland in Cape-Atlantic League action. Gatto tossed a one-hitter, striking out 11, in a 4-1 win over the Mustangs.

 

Bridget Flynn, Track & Field, Ocean CityThe junior continues to dominate regional races. She shattered two Cape May County track and field championship records that each stood for more than 20 years. She surpassed those marks on her way to winning the 800-meter and 1,600-meter races. Flynn also anchored the Red Raiders 4x400-meter relay victory, which set another event record.

 

Austin Goodwin, Lacrosse, AbsegamiThe Braves' standout scored six in a victory over Vineland, establishing a new school record in the process. The performance gave Goodwin 32 goals on the season, breaking the the single-season record (28) he set in 2010. It also pulls him within seven scores of 100 career goals.

 

Gary Melton, Track & Field, Cedar Creek - The senior speedster stole the spotlight at the Atlantic County track and field championships. Melton claimed top honors in the 100- and 200-meter dashes, along with a first-place finish in long jump.
