Congrats to St. Augustine junior Kris Morgenweck for taking home last week's 97.3 ESPN Athlete of the Week honors.

This week, we have a new set of local student-athletes who shine on their respective fields, and each is now in the running to take home this week’s Athlete of the Week award.

Rachell Armstead, Track and Field, Millville - The junior won four events in the Cape-Atlantic League Track Meet.

 

Anthony Capasso, Baseball, Mainland - The sophomore defeated Ocean City, 2-1, in his first career start to clinch the Cape-Atlantic League American Conference championship.

 

Bridget Ruskey, Lacrosse, Middle Township - The sophomore scored 10 goals in an overtime win over Camden Catholic in the NJSIAA Tournament bringing her total for the season to 130 goals.

 

Samantha Kemmerer, Softball, Atlantic Tech - The sophomore struck out 13 and hit a pair of two-run home runs to lead Atlantic Tech to the first NJSIAA Tournament win in the program's history.

 

Dom Lopez, Baseball, Buena - The senior delivered a walk-off double in the bottom of the 7th as the defending state champions won their NJSIAA opening game

 

Carly Testa, Softball, St. Joseph - The senior went 3-for-3 against Buena and got her 200th career hit.
