Thousands voted but only one could win. Congrats to Atlantic City's Matt DiCerbo for taking home last week's 97.3 ESPN High School Athlete of the Week award.

We have a new batch of local student-athletes this week who have proven themselves worthy in their respective fields.

You can vote for your pick below, and you can hear the winner announced on the South Jersey Sports Report with Tyler Donohue Saturday morning beginning at 9:00.

Barry Buchowski, Baseball, St. Augustine - The senior catcher clobbered a grand slam that closed the door on rival Holy Spirit in the South Jersey Non-Public A quarterfinals. Buchowski's blast put the Hermits ahead 12-0 in the fifth inning, ending the game by virtue of the mercy rule. It was one of two hits in the game for Buchowski, who is commited to Tulane.

Sam Fiocchi, Softball, Buena - The sophomore pitcher tossed a three-hitter against Woodstown in the South Jersey Group II semifinal. Fiocchi struck out five batters to earn her 13th victory of the season.

Mone't Gist, Track & Field, Atlantic City - She took top honors in the triple jump at Group IV championships. Gist jumped a total of 36 feet, 4.25 inches to earn first. She also placed second in the 100-meter dash and long jump.

Beau Hall, Baseball, Ocean City - He carried the Red Raiders to a 1-0 win over Hammonton in the South Jersey Group III quarterfinals. Hall tossed a complete game, blanking the Blue Devils. He also drove in the game's lone run with a first-inning RBI single.

Bridget Flynn, Track & Field, Ocean City - The junior continues to star on the big stage. Flynn finished first in both the 800- and 1,600-meter races at the South Jersey Group III championships. Earlier in May, the Ventnor resident earned top honors in the same events at county and Cape-Atlantic League championships.
