The world of sports broadcasting lost a legendary figure in January when Stuart Scott fell victim to cancer.

On Tuesday night, he was honored in an unexpected way.

The 36th annual Sports Emmy Awards took place on Tuesday night and TNT's Ernie Johnson took home the award for "Best Studio Host."

During his acceptance speech, Johnson made a call for Scott's two surviving daughters to the stage so he could gift the award to them.

Scott, who died of cancer on January 4th, loved his daughters very deeply making that fact known in his ESPY's speech last summer. Taelor and Sydni Scott were in attendance at the awards show as their father was remembered earlier in the night for his contributions to sports media.

This was the third time winning for Johnson who overcame a battle with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma in 2006.

Johnson hosts "Inside the NBA" on TNT, as well as various baseball and college basketball telecasts for Turner Network Television.
