CSN New England's Celtics Insider A. Sherrod Blakely is reporting that the Boston Celtics are looking to trade the 3rd overall pick in this year's 2016 NBA Draft and that Sixers' Big Man Jahlil Okafor is one of their potential targets.  It was only a few months ago that rumors were swirling that there was a potential deal in the works between the Celtics and Sixers that would send Okafor to Boston before the NBA Trade Deadline.  It appears those talks may be re-initialized ahead of June 23rd's Draft.

It was only a couple weeks ago that rumors circulated of a potential Nerlens Noel to Atlanta for Jeff Teague trade discussion became public knowledge, yet that deal seems to have never have progressed beyond just talks.

Sean Deveney is the National NBA writer for The Sporting News and he spoke with Mike Gill on Monday about why the Sixers would look to trade Okafor instead of Nerlens Noel:

"Noel is known as a commodity...but with Okafor the worry is that he is a guy who is going to get you 20 (points per game) but give up 25 at the other end, plus you could probably get a little more for Okafor. He certainly makes more sense to trade, but also the upside is more in his favor. What his (potential) possibilities are higher than Noel.  The idea is that if they can get a young guy who can contribute right away then that is something they will look for."

Deveney says the Sixers could get more than just the 3rd overall picks from Boston for Okafor:

“You probably want a player (in return)as well and Boston has some decent contributors, whether it’s (Jared) Sullinger or Kelly Olynyk, the Celtics have decent producers that could be sent along with that pick."
