Eagles coach Chip Kelly confirmed today that linebacker Kiko Alonso is getting a second opinion from Dr. James Andrews on the partially-torn ACL in his left knee. The team won't know about Alonso's status until later in the week, but as Kelly noted, he had a sprained knee and they were going to evaluate it.

"Just to get a second opinion in terms of what our doctors saw," Kelly said when asked why he went to see Dr. Andrews. "Most players here do go get a second opinion."

Alonso could return if the injury is just a knee sprain, but if surgery is needed, he would be done for the season. Alonso is reportedly considering surgery on his left knee, but after missing all of 2014, he understandably wants to exhaust every possibility.

Right guard Andrew Gardner also left Sunday's game in the first half due to a foot injury. Kelly acknowledged that Gardner was in fact injured, but had no further update on his prognosis or availability this week. Altough ESPN’s Adam Caplan reports that Gardner is expected to miss an extended period of time.

"I know he went out of the game," is about all Kelly would offer on Gardner's status.  "We’ll see what happens when I get back and meet with Chris [Director of Sports Medicine/Head Athletic Trainer Chris Peduzzi] and Doc [Head Team Physician/Head Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Peter DeLuca, M.D.] after this."
