According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports, trade talks involving Nets forward Andrei Kirilenko may be impractical for the foreseeable future due to a family issue that Kirilenko is dealing with.

According to the report, Kirilenko left the team during their west coast road trip to return to New York to deal with the issue, which could keep him in New York until January or February.

The report made it seem like the Nets, who are looking to reduce their record-setting luxury tax bills (over $90 million in tax payments last year, a year after paying $70 million in 2013), may be more interested in trading Kirilenko to a contender at the deadline, assuming that Kirilenko comes back and shows that he is willing and able to play once his family situation is resolved.

According to the report, the Sixers, who could absorb the entire contract without sending anything of significance in return, were asking for too much compensation, in the form of draft picks, from the Nets. The Yahoo sports report says that the talks between the 76ers and Nets are not dead, but that second year wing Sergey Karasev is off the table.
