This offseason the Eagles made several acquisitions to fill positions of need on the defensive side of the ball.  The Safety positions have been a year to year need in Philadelphia ever since Brian Dawkins was released years ago.  With Malcom Jenkins under contract, the Eagles needed to find him a partner to help him cover the Secondary.  Rodney McLeod left the Rams in Free Agency and signed a 5 year, 35 Million dollar deal to join the Eagles defense.

Les Bowen of the Philadelphia Daily News joined The Locker Room with Billy Schweim on Saturday and explained why McLeod could be the most impactful acquisition of the Eagles offseason in 2016:

"If I were going to bet on somebody, I'd bet on Rodney McLeod because we know he's going to be a starter...we know that this defense that Jim Schwartz is bringing in, this 4-3 with the Wide-Nine Defensive Ends will need really strong Safety play and that he'll have a big role in this defense going forward.  And I think he is really good; you know the Rams haven't been a great team and that has kind of overshadowed some guys performances.  From what I have seen Rodney McLeod's a really smart intuitive player, a Hitter, a really good cover guy.  In fact it's weird because we're use to having a lot of debate about the Safety position in Philadelphia but I think with McLeod and Malcom Jenkins they might have one of the best Safety tandems in Football."
